'Kill Two by Two' Story Code '9619' by Bob and Wanda Duncan

17th February 194: As Doug and Tony materialise on a jungle-covered island, Tony sprains his ankle. Doug sets off for medical supplies, only to be shot at by an old Japanese sergeant named Itsugi; Doug manages to overpower the soldier, and uses his medical supplies to see to Tony. The two time-travellers are then surprised and taken prisoner by another soldier, Lieutenant Nakamura. Noting that they are “two and two”, Nakamura decides to have a little sport before killing them: they are to stalk each other through the jungle in a game to the death. Nakamura also reveals that the American forces will be landing today, unaware that the Japanese have a mass air attack planned; if Doug and Tony win the deadly game of cat-and-mouse, they will be able to use Nakamura’s radio transmitter to warn the Americans - but Nakamura gloats that, although he will be handicapped by a partner who is an old man, he will easily prove his superiority…

Cliff-hanger: Tony and Doug materialise inside a spaceship, only to be captured by two aliens on a mission to raid the Earth of its food…
